When the devil dared Jesus to throw Himself down from the pinnacle of the temple, he used Scripture just as Jesus had been doing. But Jesus clarified Scripture with Scripture, reinforcing the need to allow the Bible to explain itself.
In all three temptations, Jesus showed us that the first line of defense against temptation is to know what God's Word says.
